He's a lover, not a fighter

Our poor Harry fell off a hammock last week, got a huge bump on his head, and then got his face eaten up by a mosquito. He's usually so cute....

But he ended up looking like this!

The Soccer Star

Maren scored her first goal of the season. It's been really cold, so she has to bundle up before game time.

Girl Stuff

Norah discovered an old pink glittery pocketbook of Maren's this week. She hasn't put her "pah-bahk" down since.

First Day of School

Last week was our first day of school. Can't you see how excited we are? The excitement spread through the neighborhood, and soon everyone was out to take their morning pictures too!

Norah's Year in Review

Norah's first year has sped by so quickly that we are scratching our heads, trying to decide where the time has gone. Norah is a composed and easy-going little girl. A perfect addition to our family that tends to be a little more on the noisy side. She adores her brother and sister and thinks they are the most clever people.

Here are a few highlights from her first year:

A visit from Darby and Elliette.

A summer-time nap with Grandma Veloy.

A trip with Mom all the way to New Zealand. I think everyone who saw her on that trip will agree that Norah was the most perfect and well-behaved baby imaginable.

A Harry Potter Halloween, with Norah starring as Dobby!

Fancy prep-school clothes.

Christmas naps with Grandma Jan.

The first chocolate chip cookie.

Move over Mia Hamm!

Maren is playing soccer. They won their first game 5-2, with Maren playing goalie in the 2nd half. Mom couldn't watch, she was too nervous. Maren kept cool and stopped a flurry of shots on goal. The 1st and 2nd Grade Girls League is much more intense than last year's Kindergarten league. Games on Monday night? What's with that?

First Day of First Grade

FOOD

Norah is beginning to explore the world of solid foods. She's not to crazy about it, but when Maren feeds her it's a lot more fun.

Utah!

We had a great time in Utah. Playing with cousins is the best!

Happy home

It has been a busy time in our house lately. Maren turned 6 years old last week. She's such a big kid now. We had a nice little family party with a delicious cake made by Grandma Veloy. Maren loved the finished product, but Harry loved "helping" with the frosting.

Norah is growing quickly. She's gained 12 oz. in the past week, and is having longer stretches of "awake" time. Her eyes are so bright and watchful. It's a wonderful world she's a part of!

We're Ready

Here are 2 reasons my mom hasn't posted anything in so long; that big belly and little boy.
We are so excited to meet our baby sister, and to see both of our Grandmas in the next few days. Hurray!

These are a few of our favorite things....

Maren loves to build. Lincoln Logs are so retro-cool!

We all love pasta. It's fun to eat and fun to wear!

"Roller stair" is our favorite game. You should try it. Throw a ball up the stairs and watch as it rolls down. It's hours of fun!

Dad is our favorite playmate. We love to wrestle with him, and get tickle tortured!

Thanksgiving Weekend

We had a great Thanksgiving with Grandma Jan and Grandpa Win. We had a yummy dinner on Thursday with lots of pie and ice cream, a fun day shopping on Friday, and a great trip into the city on Saturday. Maren and Harry both loved the Indonesian food we had for lunch that day. Some of our favorite parts of the weekend were watching both Ice Age movies, building with Lincoln Logs, playing outside, and jumping on the air mattress in the living room. We are all sad that Grandma and Grandpa had to go back to Caracas, but we're counting down the days 'till we see them again at Christmas.

Harry's current words(some pronounced with more clarity than others): ball, mom, dad, cracker(cack), cookie, cup(sometime cuk), bye, no(sometimes with a shaking finger), yes, please(pease), cheese(for a smile not a snack), more, snack(nack), down, Maren(nana), go, Elmo(melmo), Grover, dog, ruff, cat, meow, quack, duck, moo, bock-bock, roar(what a dinsour says), Jack(-O-Lantern), candy, banana, blocks(box), water, kick, goal, bath, ..... and his expressions say a lot more.

Maren has the following to say:maren

A Day in the City

We had a nice three day weekend because of Veteran's Day so we decided to drive into New York City on Saturday morning. We visited the Egyptian collection and the armor at the Met, took a walk in the park, and spent some time at the Central Park Zoo.

Baby news!

We're having a baby sister! Can you help us think of names?

Halloween

Maren and Harrison had a spooktacular Halloween! They had parties at school, a costume parade, and a great neighborhood party before heading out for Trick-or-treating.

Haircuts

Maren and Harrison both had haircuts on Monday in preparation for Halloween. They both look so grown up!
